Intervention (series) 2008. Acrylic and cotton embroidery floss on Someone Else's inkjet print, scanned and re-uploaded to facebook.

Intervention series was a result of the discomfort in changing my presentation coupled with the immortalization of images on the internet. The act of social media "tagging" and therefore targeting individuals with images felt like a breakdown in the seemingly empowering autonomy of profile construction. As a way to over others' digital images displaying presentations disaligned with my current gender presentation, I began printing and phsycially altering these images, only to scan and re-upload into public albums on my own facebook profile. A "digital drag" of sorts, I am interested in the duality of the analog vs. digital "doing" at play, and the disconnect that seems to make itself known in seeing a scanned iteration of a very tangible material process.
